Less clutter, less stress!

I have always been a fairly organized person. However, there are seasons when DIY projects, running a home-based business, and mom life take over and organizing on a regular basis seems to fall by the wayside.

I, too, am subject to the clutter trolls that seem to come into the house in the middle of the night and multiply all the STUFF. Have they ever visited your home? Our home used to be overwhelmed by endless paperwork that passes through our house and projects that get temporarily halted until we have to figure out the next piece of the puzzle. Not to mention the school art, homework, packages and tools that seem to have a magnetic attraction to our kitchen counters!

Anyone else feel like the kitchen is a magnet for ALL.THE.THINGS??

It’s a never ending battle.

In the past, we used to let it build up, then take a whole day to “handle” all the clutter. Purging. Putting things away where they belong, etc. You get the idea!

This past year, we made a commitment to simplify life. To not be stressed by the “stuff” that wasn’t important. Moving piles of papers from room to room or having to “reorganize” things for the hundredth time just didn’t make sense anymore. Especially since we have big goals for our life and careers this upcoming year.

I have to say, I am pretty good at organizing, especially for others. My brain sees things systematically. Organizing itself though, is rarely a perfect event. Sometimes it is a journey…of realizing what works, what doesn’t, and how things can function better.

A key factor about organizing anything is that the system is only as successful as the user. You can have all the bins, baskets and file cabinets you want. But, (and I’ve learned from experience!) if you don’t modify some of the behaviors that cause the clutter in the first place, it’s all null and void.

So, I’m here to give you hope. Moving ten times will bring you face to face with all the junk you carry around. You have no choice but to figure out what to do with it all. Decide what to let go of and how to organize the rest of it.

When we had finally put down roots in our forever home, it was time to set up some real lasting systems that would help our family function.

Over the year, I’ll be sharing some of the systems I have created and personally tested to help manage and reduce the clutter. I am a believer that visual clutter creates internal stress and chaos, which I personally prefer to do without! I have a free printable to help get you started on eliminating the clutter (and the stress!) and start working toward a more peaceful, clutter-free year. To get access, be sure to sign up for my emails as I'll be sending it out next week (along with more goodies in the future!).

Do you have some systems that help you manage clutter and work really well for you? I’d love for you to share what’s working for you with our community. Or share what’s not working for you and where you’d like some help!

Make today a beautiful day,
